List of SEO Onpage Factors Tips

SEO On-Page

The web is an attractive scene for local and global businesses alike. It offers something that couldn’t be found in the pre-Internet era – instant exposure on a global scale. Many know that SEO is the key to success. However, only a few realize that on page SEO is that thin line, that makes the difference between a thriving business and a total failure.

SEO Meta Tags

HTML meta tags are bits of code that aren’t visible on your site but which help with on page SEO by describing the pages of your site to search engines. The use of meta tags is one of the basic elements of on page SEO.
To understand why meta tags are important, we need to understand how search engines work. They use automated programs called crawlers that visit websites, scan the content and then categorize it. If there are no meta tags, the search engines will decide what your page is all about based on the content. However, if you use meta tags, such as meta title, meta keywords and meta description, you will tell the search engine crawlers what your website is about in a way they can understand. So obviously, meta tags do help when dealing with crawlers, because you tell the search engines what the page is about directly rather than forcing them to guess that from your content. This improves on page SEO tremendously.
Let’s now look at an example of how to use these meta tags and the effect they have. There are some free to use websites that will generate meta tags, so you can boost your on page SEO without having to write any html meta tags code by yourself.

Meta Title

The website title is what search engines like Google will show on their results page. If you fail to provide one, a search engine will show your page as Untitled on the results page. Needless to say, this is far from appealing to potential visitors and customers. A good title is catchy and encourages visitors to click through to your website.
Wikipedia is an excellent example of a website that ranks high on Google for the keyword phrase “search engine optimization”. Outlined in red is the meta title and outlined in blue is the meta description. As you can see, proper on page SEO has helped the search engine rankings for that page.
Meta Title and Description
We can see the meta tags of a website easily. To do this, go to the website, click View and select the Source option as shown below:
View Page Source
This will open up the html code of the page of the website you are on. The information stored in the source page allows you to view the meta titles and other meta tags of your competition for ideas.
To add meta titles to your own website, you need to open the page in a text editor (such as Notepad or Adobe Dreamweaver) and add the code like the following to the file:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
    <html>
        <head>
            <title>Search engine optimization -
                Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia</title>
        </head>
        <body>
         ....
        </body>
    </html>
There are a few other things to bear in mind when creating meta titles for your website. Firstly, create unique meta titles – remember that not all your pages are the same! Secondly, the homepage meta title should include your main target keywords, even if these keywords don’t appear on all the pages (such as About Us or Contact). Thirdly, the title doesn’t need to feature your domain name or your brand – keep it about the content to improve rankings.
In our example above, having a title that matches the content and what the potential visitors searched for helped the site rank higher than it would have if the title was simply the domain name or brand name.
Make sure to check these Do’s and Don’ts on your website to ensure that you’ve nailed the SEO basics for meta titles.
Do:
  • Make titles that accurately reflect the page’s content
  • Make the title unique for each page
  • Use brief but descriptive titles
Don’t:
  • Use a title that has no relation to the page content
  • Use a default title – or worse – none at all
  • Add unnecessary keywords to the title
  • Use an overly long title – search engines will only show part of long meta titles
If this sounds like a lot of work, consider buying ready made templates – these will have excellent on page SEO and the html meta tags will be automatically generated to fit the content of your website. Read More...,

Best Guide for SEO Onpage

On Page SEO:

On page SEO is the process of optimizing the content of your website. This includes the text, images and links on your website. Anything uploaded to your site's domain is considered on page.

Components of On Page SEO:

There are several key factors of on page SEO. One of the most discussed factors is keyword density. Keyword density is given as a percentage. The percent value represents the number of times a keyword or phrase appears compared to the total number of words on a page. Other on page factors include the total amount of indexable text a page has as well as the usage of bold text and headings.

On Page SEO & Meta Tags:

To properly optimize a page it is necessary to add the proper tags to the page. This includes adding ALT tags to images. ALT tags are short and description and will show up when a user mouses over the image. Other tags include meta tags like keywords and descriptions both used by spiders to return relevant search results.

On Page SEO & Titles:

One of the most heavily weighted tags in regards to on page optimization is the title tag. The title tag is also the link that a user sees and clicks on when they run a search. Title tags should contain relevant keywords used to describe that the page is about.

Here is a quick checklist for on page SEO:

* You need to have H1 tag containing your keyword
* You need to have H2 tag containing your keyword
* You need to have H3 tag containing your keyword
* bold your keyword
* italic your keyword
* underline keyword
* You need to have an image with ALT tag set to your keyword
* More than 400 words needed.
* You need an internal link to your other pages.
* You want between 3-7% keyword density

SEO Link Building Methods

internal linking and optimization can be done within your blog or website in order to improve reach and thereby help Search Engine (SE) bots to crawl and link relevant pages. Now, it’s time to learn about various link building techniques in order to obtain a lot of backlinks to your blog .

Ways to build your Backlinks:

#1 Blogroll & Link exchanges: This is the most common way of building links whereby on mutual consent the links are exchanged using the blog roll space. This is also less spammy in nature and sometimes will do the role of advertising for your blog.

#2 Link love: This is not exactly my way of link building but there are a lot of people who give and take love with no nofollow references to each others’ posts. If you link to and from relevant posts, it is actually beneficial to both the parties. There are people who regularly publish link love posts.

#3 Directory submission: You can submit your blog URL to directory services some of which provide dofollow listing. In most cases, relevant front page listings come at a cost.

#4 Blog commenting: Blog commenting on dofollow blogs is a great way to improve your inbound links. In addition, if the blog supports a top commentator, commentluv, keywordluv plugins, it can improve your chances of getting dofollow links from more relevant sources.

#5 Forum posting: Many forums these days provide dofollow links via post signatures of signed up users. Though the link strength of forum backlinks are relatively weak, a number of them will always be of help. Please read my article titled High PR forums to help popularize your blog for more information on this method of building backlinks.

#6 Guest posting: Guest posting on popular blogs will not only build one or two relevant links to your blog but also attract some traffic, get some subscriptions and conversions.

#7 Via services: such as blog themes, widgets and badges: If you build and market your own free themes and widgets, you will have a chance to put backlinks on those free products (e.g. Free WordPress themes, blog rank widgets etc)

#8 Link baiting: Link baiting refers to the process of publishing some content/post so exciting, unique and compelling that people willingly would link to such content. The baits could be something like plugins, free online services, free tool downloads etc.

#9 Paid links: Paid links or buying links are another way to improve your backlinks but these come at the risk of being detected and blacklisted by search engines such as Google. Google believes that such unethical ways of link building inorder to boost page ranks are methods to sabotage their logic of identifying the relevant links.

#10 Article submission and spinning: Another way of building links is article marketing and/or spinning. This method is explained in detail in one of my posts on article submission sites

Other tips for effective link building:

* Whenever you bump into a blog in your niche with similar ranks and statistics, make it a point to contact its author via contact forms for potential link exchange queries and/or blogroll entries
* Three-way linking (a => b, b=> c, c => a) is supposed to be better than reciprocal linking (a => b, b => a)
* Keep track of the URLs or blogs with which you have exchanged links . You may loose track otherwise
* Make sure that your link partners use dofollow links if they promised to do so
* It is always beneficial to exchange links with pages that have a low number of outbound links. This minimizes page rank dilution
* Use the NoDoFollow Firefox add-on to check the rel properties of links
* You can use free tools like comment kahuna commenting software to search and comment on blogs of your niche and/or have specific keywords in them
* Read the comment policy of blogs where you are commenting to save you from the risk of getting marked as spam. Also gently ask the bloggers whether keywords in URL are okay (some of them don’t allow this)
* Gradual and slow link building is always better than high speed link-building (such as article spinning or purchasing links in bulk)
* Stay away from bad neighbourhood (rated sites, copyright violations, pirated content etc) while exchanging links as blanket bans by Google can put your online life int jeopardy

Best OffPage Techniques SEO

Here’s a crash course in SEO. Search engine optimization distills into two activities: on-page and off-page SEO.

What is on-page search engine optimization? It’s the keyword end of SEO. Keyword efforts require choosing your keywords and strategically placing them throughout a site.

As the web grows, keyword research is critically important. You want to use keywords that are actually searched, but don’t have so much competition that you’ll never have those keywords work for you. It’s a balancing act.

What is off-page search engine optimization? In a nutshell it’s getting backlinks to your sites. Backlinks help your sites rank well in the search engines.

For example, a link from Fox News website is far more valuable than a link from your local hair salon owned by a friend. You also want links from websites and blogs that are related in content to your site.

Also get links from sites whose content is similar to yours. For instance, if your site is a law firm, get links from other lawyers. Don’t waste time getting links from a hair salon website.

So, it’s easy to talk about getting links and musing about getting awesome links from CNN, but just how do you get those links? 3 approaches are commonly used; they are:

1. Create such great content that other websites, without any prompting from you, link to your site. Content can be articles, videos, podcasts, and/or photos.

2. Be a deal-maker by link exchanging with related websites. E-mail a site owner or webmaster and ask for a link exchange.

3. Create inbound links by writing and publishing content on sites outside your website.

I focus on option three. I like the control and I like the links to my site being one-way. I’ve done link exchanging but it’s an ongoing headache.

The disadvantage to my approach, which works well, is it takes a lot of my time. Think about writing fresh content and then putting it on article directories. That takes time. Also, writing blog comments and posts takes a fair amount of time as well.

These services can work wonders and really take your SEO to the next level.

Introduction to Search Engine Optimization

Search engines are one of the primary ways that Internet users find Web sites. That's why a Web site with good search engine listings may see a dramatic increase in traffic.

Everyone wants those good listings. Unfortunately, many Web sites appear poorly in search engine rankings or may not be listed at all because they fail to consider how search engines work.

In particular, submitting to search engines (as covered in the Essentials section) is only part of the challenge of getting good search engine positioning.
